Hon. Abdulraheem Olajide Jimoh: A gentleman politician

Hon. Abdulraheem Olajide Jimoh is a two-term incumbent member of the House of Representatives, representing the Lagos Mainland Federal Constituency.

He was also a member of Lagos State House of Assembly Class of 1999-2007. A complete gentleman and devout Muslim.

This is what I wrote about him in my appraisal of members of the Lagos House of Assembly in 2000 published in Encomium Magazine, “Mr. Abdulraheem Olajide is the honorable member representing Lagos Mainland Constituency 2. Like his counterpart (from Constituency 1) he is intelligent. Unlike his counterpart, however, he is not loud or aggressive”.

“You are one of the very few members of the Assembly then that I didn’t have any cause to write anything negative about despite your prominence (he was Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee for both State and Local Governments). I asked him in my book, ‘Two Decades of Lagos House of Assembly: Face To Face With The Movers and Shakers.”

“If that is your assessment of me, I want to thank you very much. My humble and disciplined background came in again. I was not born with a silver spoon and was trained to know that a good name is better than gold and silver”, he responded.

“What is your assessment of Tolani Abatti”? I asked him.

“You are one of the journalists I respect a lot. When we were in the House of Assembly, you were one of those journalists that did not ask for any favor. You carried out your job diligently without fear or favor”, he said.

N:B: Thank you very much Hon sir, for your patronage and generosity.
